The Hopkins County Health Department is accepting applications for a Part time 100 Clinical Assistant II.

This position is located in the local school system. Work during the summer and school breaks will be at the Main Clinic in Madisonville.

General Duties include:  This position serves under the moderate direction of the appropriate supervisor.  Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to: Assist the registered nurses in facilitating the transition of the patient/client from the registration process to the actual receipt of services by professional and technical personnel.  Responsibilities would include:  performing initial physical including blood pressure or developmental testing and interviewing patient to obtain history.  Taking Pottinger growth chart measurements such as weight, height, collecting specimens for laboratory analysis such as hematocrit, blood sugar, urinalysis, pregnancy and explaining services and documenting services provided in medical record.  Conduct appropriate laboratory controls and maintain appropriate documentation.  Order supplies to replenish materials used by staff. Stock clinic with necessary material to be used by staff.  Answer phone and direct calls to appropriate person. 

Minimum Education, Training or Experience:  High School Diploma or GED.  Completion of an approved program in Certified Nurse Assistant, Certified Medical Administrative Assistant or Certified Phlebotomist Program and one (1) year of experience in Public Health or in a medical setting such as; nursing home, hospital, doctor’s office with experience in providing patient care services, conducting laboratory procedures or the collection of specimens for laboratory analysis.

Substitution for Education, Training or Experience:  High School Diploma or GED and two (2) years of experience in Public Health or in a medical setting such as; nursing home, hospital, doctor’s office with experience in providing patient care services, conducting laboratory procedures or the collection of specimens for laboratory analysis. 

OR

High School Diploma or GED and equivalent combination of education or experience or training.

Starting Salary:  $14.31/hr negotiable with additional experience.  Grade 11

This position is located in the local county school system.

General Duties include:  This position serves under the direction of the Director of Nursing.  Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to: Provides basic nursing functions and services to individuals and families under moderate supervision in a clinic, school or community setting. With supervision, applies a variety of technical, interpersonal, analytical, and organizational skills to problems of health, as they affect clients, families, and the community. Conducts communicable and preventative disease case finding investigations for the purpose of preventing and controlling diseases and disabling conditions and the promotion and maintenance of health populations. Work closely with school interdisciplinary team and apply problem solving strategies to accomplish job tasks.  Participate in specialized or program specific clinics. Participate in educational counseling and teaching activities for individual students and educators.  May assist coordinator of a specific program and offer mentoring to staff.

Minimum Education, Training or Experience:  See special requirements.  Two (2) years of Registered Nurse (RN) experience.

Substitution for Education, Training or Experience:  BSN or Masters Degree in Nursing, Nursing Administration, Nursing Education or Public Health may substitute for two (2) years of experience. 

Special Requirements:  (Age, Licensure, Regulation, Etc.)  Must have RN license in Kentucky or compact state.

Starting Salary:  $25.29/hr negotiable with additional experience.  Grade 18
